Terms of Use

Last updated: June 17, 2026

These terms govern your use of Quill — the reading app, the Quill Pro subscription, the extension and book marketplace, and our websites. By using Quill you agree to them.

1. Using Quill

You may use Quill to read books and documents you own or are legally entitled to access, and to import your own files. You're responsible for the legality of content you bring into the app. Don't use Quill to infringe copyright or break the law.

2. Accounts

Guest mode needs no account. To sync across devices you sign in with Apple. Keep your account secure; you're responsible for activity under it. You can delete your account at any time.

3. Quill Pro

Quill Pro is a subscription billed through Apple (or, where offered, Stripe on the web). Price and what's included are shown before you purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; manage or cancel in your Apple account settings. Pro continues to work offline for up to 35 days between entitlement checks so you're never locked out of your own library mid-trip.

4. Purchases & refunds

Books, extensions, and subscriptions purchased in the app are sold through Apple and subject to Apple's refund process. We can't issue refunds for App Store purchases directly — request them through Apple.

5. Extensions & AI

Extensions are optional add-ons, some by third-party developers. They run sandboxed and only access what they declare. AI features are off by default; when you enable them you bring your own provider key, and your prompts go directly to that provider under their terms. Quill isn't responsible for third-party provider output or availability.

6. Authors & sellers

If you publish books or extensions to the Quill marketplace, you additionally agree:

7. Your content

Your books, notes, and highlights remain yours. We don't claim ownership of anything you import or create. We only process synced data to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Acceptable use

Don't abuse, reverse-engineer for harm, overload, or attempt to bypass the security of Quill or its marketplace. We may suspend accounts that do.

9. Disclaimers & liability

Quill is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as Quill evolves; material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
